Hello!

My name is James Badger, as you may have noticed from the site title. I’m attending the University of Calgary as an Engineering student, and am working towards a BSC in Geomatics Engineering [1]. As a personal hobby, I write applications that help make using a Mac easier, as well as dabble in web development. I’ve had a few websites over the years, and am somewhat disappointed I didn’t keep them, but I suppose they would look pretty bad in today’s standards.

So, I’ve finally got with the times and started a personal blog/portfolio website. Here I can maintain and keep a collection of things I’ve made, ranging from scripts to programs to photographs. I hope you find something here useful, I’m constantly thinking of new things to add.

    It’s kind of tough to describe without sounding like a dictionary.

    I think the most common description is that it’s collecting, analysing, interpreting, and using geographic information, it is a newer term for surveying. It’s a rapidly growing sector in Engineering worldwide, and I’m studying at one (of two) universities in Canada that offer it.

    I’ll be taking courses about “Fundamentals of Surveying”, “Introduction to Geospatial Information Systems”, and “Least Squares Estimation” this winter, maybe ask me that again after I finish them, I should know a thing or two by then.

    My name is James Badger and I reside in California, USA. I was doing a name search on http://www.google.com and I came across your site. Interesting!! I would have to say that I agree with Andy (PuddleMonkey) that Badger is the coolest last name ever.. My two boys would also agree. My oldest son goes by Badger on the baseball field. Some kids dont even know his first name, his middle name is James another great name.
